The Little Unnoticed Steps
There is a romance and a peacefulness that you can find. You walk the game trails, the winding corridors of wildlife, that are rarely touched by others. Sliding down the hills on dead leaves, waiting for an unseen tree root to catch, with only the background noise of wind through the trees. Everything is simply simpler out there. There are no assignments, no tasks, no deadlines. The sun goes up and the sun goes down, whether you’re there or not makes no difference. You get to be a bystander in the great wave of life as it rolls on all around, regardless of you
Imagine the wind blowing over the crest of a hill, rolling down a canyon, and grazing the trees lining the flats. That sound is the only thing you can hear. The signal on the cellphone is non-existent, the closest road is miles away, and the closest person is double that. Running on a mix of caffeine and protein bars, It's just you and the world. It’s hard to put into words that wild feeling. You think about what the people that came before you would have experienced in their time.Without social media, without the internet, or the 24/7 news cycle. For all the progress we have made, you wonder what got thrown to the side of the road along the way.
It's different for everybody, what they are searching for out there. For me, it's those small, quiet moments. That time when you are able to glance back in time and see a different world. It makes you feel more human. It's fleeting and gone, but while it's there, there’s nothing quite like it.
